Advisory Board Member – Voluntary

Commitment: Quarterly meetings, plus occasional events and consultations

If so, Black Men Teach is looking for you to join our dynamic and dedicated advisory board!

About Us

Black Men Teach is committed to increasing the representation of Black men and boys in the education system. Our mission is to raise the profile of teaching amongst black males and create space for black boys to thrive. We are dedicated to challenging stereotypes and providing black males with the support and resources needed to be inspired and thrive through education. By joining our advisory board, you will play a pivotal role in driving our mission forward.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Advisory Board Member, you will:

• Provide strategic guidance and expertise to help shape the organisation’s vision and initiatives.
• Offer insights and advice on programme development, events, fundraising, and community engagement.
• Advocate for Black Men Teach’s mission and help raise the organisation’s profile.
• Assist in identifying and securing funding opportunities and partnerships.
• Participate in quarterly board meetings and occasional events or consultations.

We are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Education (teaching, school/trust leadership, higher education, ITT provision)
• Fundraising and development (bid writing and grant application)
• Community engagement and advocacy
• Marketing and communications (social media expertise)
• Business and financial management
• Legal expertise

Desired Skills and Qualities:

• Passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in education.
• Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Commitment to supporting Black men and boys within education
• Ability to dedicate time and effort to quarterly meetings and occasional events.
